Press ReleaseOn October 11 & 12, 2008 the oldest event on Biscayne Bay will be running again as usual, the 54th Annual Columbus Day Regatta. The regatta committee is presenting numerous new venues to revitalize this regatta and bring back the enthusiasm of the past. Come join us and race in the greenest sport on the earth! NEW! Open to Beach Cats 14’ or larger and scored on the Portsmouth handicap system. Trailer parking will be available at Dinner Key and Matheson Hammock. NEW! The courses have changed so the Saturday finish / Sunday start is just north of Black Ledge, allowing sailors the easier option of returning shore side for the night or continuing down to Elliot. NEW! Dockside BBQ at CRYC commencing at 1730 Saturday, October 11, 2008 Camaraderie, food, free keg & cash bar. NEW! Trophies presented to the first three yachts in each class will have the boats name and photograph as coming through the finish line printed on the trophy. NEW! The CDR committee is offering a special program – “Each one, Reach one”. If You have sailed the regatta before and you bring in another, new participant, You will both get a discount on your entry fee. NEW! Entry form is online for easier registration as well as pre-ordering t-shirts and Dinner tickets for the dockside BBQ. NEW! Raffle ticket included with each entry packet for weekend getaway at the Mutiny in Coconut Grove. NEW!
